Support Groups

A New Journey Eating Disorder Center hosts a variety of weekly support groups with topics designed for clients, as well as their families and friends alike. These groups allow individuals to share their experience, exchange information and connect with others who may be experiencing similar situations.

Wednesday

6:30-7:30pm:  Family & Friends Eating Disorder Support Group: This group will provide an informative overview of Eating Disorders, as well as teach valuable communication skills aimed at improving and building a strong foundation for your loved one. Our interactive group approach offers an open forum for friends and family to bring in “real life” situations they are currently facing.

7:45-8:45pm: Adult Support Group: This group offers ongoing support for both male and female adults who have successfully completed an intensive eating disorder program or extensive individual therapy and are currently without eating disorder behaviors. Each attendee is asked complete a brief evaluation prior to attending their first support group.

Thursday  - Coming Soon

7:30-8:30pm:  Compulsive Overeating Support Group: Feelings of shame and embarrassment may keep you, or a loved one, from asking for the necessary support required to conquer this isolating and potentially very dangerous behavior.  There are no requirements for this group; we only ask that you come with an open mind and open heart as you join others who ready to take their first step toward recovery. You are not alone.

Friday

6:30-9:30pm: Adolescent Pizza and a Movie Night (Once per month): Once per month 13-17 year old males and females are invited to join their peers for pizza and a movie. Following the movie adolescents will process feelings the movie brought up for them in a supportive environment.

Saturday

11:00 am – noon:  Eating Disorders Anonymous (EDA): Eating Disorders Anonymous (EDA) is a fellowship of individuals who share their experience, strength and hope with each other so that they may solve their common problems and help others to recover from their eating disorders. The only requirement for membership is a desire to recover from an eating disorder.
