Transitional Living

In addition to Intensive Outpatient and Partial Day Treatment services, A New Journey offers a Transitional Living component to increase safety and access to support in the hours outside of the daily treatment schedule.  All of our transitional living  homes are staffed with qualified and understanding Resident Assistants who are available to support residents with their eating disorder recovery and sobriety needs. Residents are exposed to a variety of experiences to foster independent living and life skills, create sober fun memories, and to integrate diverse aspects of their individualized after treatment care plan to help support therapeutic goals.

At the same time, life at our Journey Homes supports the development of “real world” daily living and recovery skills. These skills include:

  • Grocery Shopping
  • Meal Planning
  • Meal Preparation
  • Time Management
  • Budget Management
  • Educational/Career Guidance
  • 12 Step Meeting Participation
  • Relapse Prevention

While living at one of our Journey Homes, individuals work, attend school and/or volunteer on a part-time basis. Professional staff provide overnight and weekend supervision and support. Individuals develop independence and confidence in their recovery skills within the supportive, safe haven our homes.

Located  in Santa Monica, California, our Journey Homes are within walking distance of the following locations:

  • A New Journey’s Outpatient Office
  • Local 12 Step Meetings
  • Santa Monica City College
  • Citywide Bus Service
  • Shopping
  • Medical Services
  • Work and Volunteer Opportunities
  • Entertainment
  • Santa Monica Beach and Pier
  • Third Street Promenade

Transitional living provides an intermediate step between inpatient or residential treatment and life at home.
