Treatment for Teens

A New Journey Eating Disorder Center, in Santa Monica, is pleased to announce we have a new program designed specifically for male and female adolescents and young adults who are struggling with issues around food or body image. For some, this is a phase they will grow out of quickly and for others it may be the beginning of a lifelong struggle with an eating disorder. Our adolescent programs were designed to address specific challenges adolescents face by giving them the tools and skills they need to heal from food and body image obsession and unhealthy food practices

We have many options and varying levels of care to treat adolescent and young adult clients at every stage of their disorder.

Partial Day Treatment Program (PDT)

The Partial Day Treatment Program meets Monday through Friday and includes group therapy, individual therapy, dietician meetings, psychiatrist appointments, experiential outings, and supervised meals. We encourage our clients to attend five days a week.

Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (A-IOP)

The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program meets five afternoons a week, working with the client’s school schedule and commitments. Clients will participate in a combination of specialized groups, nutritional meal planning, supervised meals, hands-on experiential therapy, and educational presentations, all specifically designed for adolescents.

Weekly Support Groups

The weekly support groups cover topics designed for clients, as well as their families and friends alike. These groups allow individuals to share their experience, exchange information and connect with others who may be experiencing similar situations. For a full list of support groups please click here.
